Get back to the moments that matter.
Over 7 million Americans struggle with essential tremor.1
Essential tremor is a common neurological condition that causes an uncontrollable shaking, often in the hands. It can deeply impact daily life, making everyday activities such as eating, dressing, or enjoying a cup of coffee difficult.
When medications aren’t meeting your needs, TAPS* therapy, as delivered by the Cala kIQ™ System, may be the next step. It can safely be used with common medications — in the moments when you need relief from tremor.
Most people who use Cala TAPS therapy maintain relief for over an hour after therapy1.
*TAPS stands for transcutaneous afferent patterned stimulation.
The Cala kIQ™ System is for people with action tremor of the hand.
Action tremor of the hand occurs when the hand shakes during activities, such as writing or drinking. It can also happen while your hands are holding a posture, such as outstretched in front of your body.
Most people with action tremor of the hand have essential tremor. Some people with Parkinson’s disease may also have action tremor of the hand — although it is less common.
Action tremor of the hand is different from resting tremor. A rest tremor is more common in people with Parkinson’s disease, and describes the shaking that happens when you are not moving or holding a posture, such as when your hands are relaxing on your lap.
Cala TAPS Therapy can safely be used early in your treatment plan
Essential tremor is a neurodegenerative condition, which means it could worsen over time. Some people with essential tremor may find that eventually, their tremor requires invasive surgical options, such as deep brain stimulation, in order to relieve the burden on daily life.
It is important to speak with your neurologist early about treatment options — particularly if medications are causing side effects or are not as effective as hoped.
